Arcola East Preschool Closing for 2020-21 School Year
Dear parents, The AECA Board has made the difficult decision to close the AECA Preschool for the 2020-2021 school year. This decision was not made lightly but is a reflection of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions the pre-school would have faced when opening and operating in the fall.
We hope to reopen our doors in the fall of 2021. Please watch this website for registration details. Anyone who was already registered for the 2020-2021 year will receive a full refund.
Anyone with questions is invited to please email Preschool Director Chantel De la Sablonniere at chantel.delasablonniere@outlook.com
Who We Are
Our preschool is based on learning through play, which means that everything we offer to the children is there to teach and reinforce both the social & educational skills the children will need for their school years. We change the areas and toys within each area to offer different and progressive experiences that continue to challenge the children throughout the year.
Each class has 20 children, three teachers and one parent helper each day. The children are together for calendar time at the beginning of class, snack time & story time at the end of class. During art/classroom time & gym time upstairs, the group is divided into two groups of 10.
We celebrate popular holidays like Easter & Halloween, have a short concert at Christmas and at end of the year, and mark each child's birthday with a special snack the parents bring in to share with the class. We have silly days like Hat Day or PJ Day and give the children a taste of different cultures by celebrating Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year and Marde Gras.
Once a month we have a popcorn and cartoon day for 20 minutes at the end of class. Weather depending we will take the children outside to the school play structures or our front grass. We plan for one field trip per year, such as the Saskatchewan Science Centre, Gymnastics Adventure, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, YMCA, or the Floral Conservatory.
